EMPOWERING YOUNG CHANGEMAKERS
YOUTH ID
A Paris & Barcelona based non-profit helping young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, take part in solidarity projects in France and across Europe.
WHO WE ARE
Youth ID is a youth-led non-profit association (loi 1901) founded in 2016, based in Paris and Barcelona. We help young people aged 13 to 30 become actors of change: we inform them about the French and European schemes that let them get involved and travel at the same time (European Solidarity Corps, Erasmus+, civic service), and we support them before, during and after their project. Since 2020 we have been a European Solidarity Corps sending organisation and an Erasmus+ partner, and we run local workshops and events in the Paris region.
Making young people actors of change
Youth ID advocates for an intergenerational society in which young people help build a sustainable world. We support young people, and priority groups in particular, in taking action.
The double benefit of getting involved
We believe engagement is a powerful driver. Young people who get involved step out of their comfort zone, gain confidence and build soft and hard skills through a project that motivates them. They act for a cause, and for themselves. Society benefits twice.
Engagement and mobility: meaningful travel
Some young people want to travel but cannot (socio-economic or geographic barriers, fear, lack of information). Others want to take part in solidarity projects abroad and do not know where to start. We want everyone to have access to meaningful, more sustainable travel: leaving with a purpose, favouring slower and greener mobility, and coming back with skills and a story to tell.
WHAT WE DO
International projects
We send young people abroad on solidarity projects of every length: European Solidarity Corps volunteering (2 to 12 months), Erasmus+ youth exchanges and training courses, seminars and intercultural meetings. We prepare them before departure and follow them while they are away.
Local projects
Events and workshops in the Paris region: training on solidarity and civic topics, hands-on volunteering days, preparing a project abroad, building your own solidarity project or event, cultural and citizenship events.
Online projects
Weekly online workshops so that young people from anywhere can prepare a solidarity trip, improve their language skills, rework their CV and more.
Communication, research & advocacy
We reach young people where they are, with a social-media-first approach. We also advocate for our vision of youth and solidarity, working with researchers, experts and decision-makers so that an engaged generation is heard.
Training
We train young people and youth professionals on non-formal education, facilitation, secularism and republican values, digital communication, youth participation, content creation, gender equality and more.
OUR STORY
2016 – A journey. Youth ID starts as a student gap-year project. Yanis, 23, and his friend Jim travel to meet young decision-makers around the world and discover, along the way, dozens of French and European schemes that let young people get involved, travel and train, and how few young people know they exist.
2018 – A mission. Back in France, Yanis turns the project into an association with one goal: give every young person, and especially those with fewer opportunities, the keys to these schemes. The first volunteers leave, the first workshops take place in Paris, the first partners sign up.
2020 – A team. Elphège joins Yanis as co-director. Two laptops, a lot of determination and committed volunteers: the association becomes professional, finds an office and grows its programmes. Youth ID is now a team of permanent staff, civic-service volunteers, mentors and ambassadors.
Today. Based in a priority neighbourhood of Paris’s 13th arrondissement since 2024, Youth ID sent 226 young people abroad in 2025, runs weekly workshops online and in person, and works with a growing network of partner organisations across Europe.

YOU ARE A YOUNG PERSON?
Most of our programmes are open to young people aged 18 to 30 living in France, and our workshops are run in French. If you live in France and would like to volunteer abroad with the European Solidarity Corps, join an Erasmus+ exchange or take part in our workshops, the quickest way is to write to us: we reply in English too.
Not in France? Our international projects are open to the young people of our partner organisations. Ask your local youth organisation whether it works with Youth ID, or point them to this page.
